The upcoming renovation of much of the CTA’S Blue Line will mean a big headache for some West Side commuters.

The line’s California Ave. rapid transit station will close for six weeks starting September 4th to accommodate a major upgrade; it will get a better platform, better lighting, new signs, new bicycle racks and more turnstiles.

It's expected to reopen on October 16th if all goes according to schedule.

Then the Damen Ave. station will be closed starting October 20th.

Similar improvements are planned there, along with structural fixes; the Damen station should be finished in time for Christmas.
