A Berwyn woman whose disabled son died outside a home filled with hundreds of animals will be sentenced this afternoon in Cook County Court.

Lydia Price, 52, was found guilty last May of criminal neglect of a disabled person and aggravated cruelty to animals.

Her 14-year-old son Matthew was found near death outside their home in 2011. He died soon after.

Authorities said the house was infested with insects and rats, and many of the 200 dogs, cats, birds and other animals were dead or malnourished.

Price said she felt obligated by her faith to take in animals that showed up on her doorstep.
