The village hall in Oakwood Hills is shut down after threats were made against board members over a controversial power plant proposal.

A meeting planned for today also has been canceled.

The community is about 50 miles northwest of Chicago, in McHenry County.

The threats allegedly were made after a heated zoning board meeting last week.

Opponents say the plant will be located too close to a school and two subdivisions.

The alleged threats are being investigated by police and the McHenry County state’s attorney’s office.

The village hall will remain closed until police and board members feel it’s safe to reopen.
