Some of the instructors who teach "conceal carry" classes are police officers with controversial histories.

That's according to a new Chicago Tribune investigation.

The instructors backgrounds include substantiated excessive force allegations, physical abuse, and a controversial shooting of a motorist.

A state program is set up to ensure that those who carry concealed arms are well trained.
