The Chicago Fire Department rescued a man who fell off of a roof and became trapped.

It happened in the 2300 block of South Michigan Avenue.

Officials say the man was attending a party on the roof of a building, when he sat on a ledge and fell 30 feet into a light shaft.

Firefighters say they tried to cut through a wall first to reach him. When that didn't work, they used a rope to pull him out.

It took rescuers 30 minutes to get the man out.

He was conscious and able to talk the entire time.

Firefighters say the man was in good spirits when he was taken to the hospital.
