After 20-years behind bars a man from Harvey is now free and says he was wrongfully convicted for a murder he never committed.

50-years-old Rodell Sanders was sentenced in 1995 to 80-years in prison for ordering the deadly shooting of 22-year-old Phillip Atkins and a 19-year-old woman in 1993.

After a new trial that ended last night, a Cook County jury found Sanders not guilty of murder.

Sanders was aided in his efforts to gain a new trial and win his release by the Exoneration Project, a legal clinic at the University of Chicago.
