Chicago’s Second City made a pretty big announcement Tuesday morning— they are more than doubling their space.

The famed Chicago comedy theater has purchased the former Piper's Alley, AMC Loews Movie Theater that has been closed since 2011.

The new space adds 25,000 feet to their current 20,300 foot space-- making it the largest school of comedy in the world.

Second City plans to fill the new space with student-centered facilities, including two new theaters, classrooms, a student’s lounge, bar and event space.
