Police: 1 dead after Skokie gang-related shooting

A man is dead following a shooting this morning in Skokie, authorities said.

Police responded to a 911 call at 9:50 a.m. that reported shots being fired at Oakton Street and McCormick Boulevard, police said.

When officers got there, they learned someone drove the victim to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he has died, police said. The victim's age is not available, but police said he was an adult male.

The shots were fired by a male dressed in black clothing riding a maroon motorcycle near the 8000 block of McCormick Boulevard, a statement from Skokie police said.

The shooting victim, who was in the passenger seat of another vehicle, was shot in the chest, the statement said.

The Skokie Police Department is pursuing all investigative leads and investigators do not believe this was a random incident.

There have been no arrests, the statement said.

The North Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident, which is believed to be gang-related, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office had no information about the incident.
