Summer returned with gusto to the Chicago area Tuesday with one of the hottest days of the season so far.

Both O’Hare and Midway airports recorded 90 degrees as of 4 p.m. but the heat index was at 96 and 98 degrees respectively.

People are the city soaked in the sun from the lakefront to Millennium Park.

Those stuck working out in the heat took precautions.

The spike in temperature will be short lived however as storms are expected to move in tonight.
