Man shot by police in Little Village

A Chicago police officer shot a man in the Little Village neighborhood this morning.

Officers responded to a call just after 6 a.m. about a man with a gun in the 2600 block of South Hamlin Avenue. They say when they arrived at the corner of 27th Street and Avers Avenue, the man pointed the gun at them.

One officer shot the suspect who is now hospitalized. None of the officers were injured.

A gun was found on the scene.

The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating the incident.
