The Chicago Archdiocese is working with the federal government to see how it can help the tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors trying to cross the US border illegally.

Cardinal Francis George himself made it a point of asking: What can we do?

The Chicago Archdiocese is appealing to the federal government, asking to take in undocumented children.

A church spokesperson says children sent to Chicago could be housed by Maryville Academy or Catholic charities.
More than 57,000 unaccompanied minors have crossed the border illegally since October.
