Asian carp have taken-over the Illinois River downstate.

So now the state and fisherman are going to have a little fun with them.

The first "Flying Fish Bow-fishing Tournament" is being held in Peoria this morning.

Teams are competing to see who can catch the most, with cash prizes up to $2,500.

The event is also intended to bring awareness to how invasive the Asian carp have become in our waterways.

The state department of natural resources will be handing-out information.

Chefs will be cooking up carp creations.

For more information on the tournament, you can check out the city of East Peoria's page.
