There was an unusual moment in court today involving a girl, 14, accused in a high-profile Chicago murder.

Today in court, the suspect in the killing of Endia Martin very quietly asked the judge if he had received a Father’s Day letter she sent him. The judge said yes, and thanked her. There was no other mention of the letter.

The girl is accused of killing her former friend on the South Side in April.

Prosecutors are still deciding whether to seek permission to try the 14-year-old as an adult.
