At the Chicago “running of the bulls” at the Hawthorne Race Course this weekend, brave participants will get to run alongside a total of 20 1,500-pound bulls released in three waves down a quarter-mile dirt course.

WGN’s Amy Rutledge wore a camera on her head as she tried out the scary run as a preview of the event.

The Great Bull Run includes multiple runs as well as a festival and a tomato food fight.

No how does this work? All the aldermen, state representatives, state senators, Dickie Durbin, Mark Kirk, Governor Potatohead, Son of Satan Madigan, Creepy Cullerton, Crook County Commissioners and local politicos get behind the starting gate and instead of a “rabbit” there is a bushel of cash. The gate drops and the motley crew of politicians trample each other and run to try to catch the bushel. No rules as to what is disallowed, winner takes all.

Unfortunately, like the fake “rabbit” the bushel of cash only appears to be cash. In reality it could be a bushel of subpoenas. As for the tomato fight, that too has the taxpayers in the advantage, they get to throw over-ripe tomatos at their favorite politicians. Wishful thinking.
