A man who was stuck in a Cook County jail visiting room for more than 30-hours appears to be laying the groundwork for a lawsuit.

Farad Polk filed a petition for discovery today in Cook County circuit court, requesting to inspect and photograph all areas of the jail.

Polk was at the jail on July 5th to visit his incarcerated son. According to the petition, he entered the visiting room and the door slammed shut, locking behind him. He says he was deprived of food, water, and bathroom facilities for 30-plus hours.

He was freed after he managed to set off the fire sprinkler system which finally brought the fire department.
