Several people have been displaced after a patio collapsed in the West Town neighborhood.

It happened in the 1400 block of West Chicago around 1 a.m. Friday.

The entire concrete section between two apartment buildings fell 10 feet into the basement.

Nobody was on the patio when it collapsed, but three people had to be rescued by emergency responders.

Authorities are not sure what caused the collapse.

A building inspector has been called out to look at the damage.

  • Typical

The city said “they are sending a building inspector out” oh really
    do you think?
My thought is how about the city pulls the permits for that address and see who signed off on the work at that building in the 1st place.

  • Never heard of such a thing

Never ever have seen in thousand of buildings I’ve been in Chicago, of a patio being poured over a basement.
