84-year-old man beaten and robbed on South Shore line

Police search for a suspect who robbed and beat an 84-year-old man on the platform of the Hammond station on the South Shore Line Friday morning.
This is a picture of the suspect that police say is responsible for the attack here at the Hammond station on the South Shore Line.
At around 8:30 Friday morning, the 84-year- old man who lives in the neighborhood was taking part in his daily routine.
Since 1996, when they built the platform the 84-year-old always walks to the station to buy a newspaper and get a little exercise.
The victim says on his way back home Friday he walked by a man he thought was waiting for a train, when he was jumped from behind.
The 84-year-old says he had a good amount of cash stolen.

He also suffered some minor scratches and bruises.
Police believe this suspect has committed other crimes in this area as well.
They are asking anyone who recognizes the surveillance photos or has any information to call police.

    I admiral the spunk of the older gentleman to not change his routine in spite of what occurred. Soon we can look forward to the time when it will be safe to walk the streets again when God fulfills his promise to get rid of of those who perform bad things.
