A capacity crowd crammed into at Grant Park Sunday to witness a World Cup game with a shocking finish.

Fans showed up hours before game time, clad in red, white, and blue and waved American flags.

After yesterday’s rain, the viewing party was moved from Hutchinson Field to Balbo Ave at the last minute.

It meant booze sales, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of 20,000 soccer fans who showed up.

There were so many people, officials closed the gates before the game even started. Chicago police fanned out to stop gate hoppers.

Up 2-1 over Portugal with just minutes to go it looked like team USA was on its way to a win. But in the end, It wasn’t a win or a loss but a draw. Portugal tied it up in the final moments.

Fans went from excitement to exasperation.

Another huge crowd expected on Thursday at Grant Park for another viewing party as Team USA takes on Germany.
