The search for a missing man in north suburban Gurnee may have to expand in order to find him.

57-year-old Andy Adler was last seen nine days ago.

“He’d gone for a bike ride about 9 in the morning,” said Cmdr William Meyer of the Gurnee Police. “He told his family he was going for a long bike ride which was not uncommon. “

On Facebook, a page dedicated to finding Adler is one of the many steps friends and family have taken in their search.

Adler loved to ride and knew the forest preserves well.

“His family said it would not be uncommon for him to ride 40-50 miles. I know he’d ridden 75-100 miles at a time,” Cmdr Meyer said.

The biggest challenge in this search is the vast area. Because of his ability to ride long distances, Adler could be in many places.

The police say, as was normal for him, he left his wallet and cell phone at home.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
