MIAMI — Chicago Cubs third base prospect Kris Bryant was promoted Wednesday to Triple-A Iowa after an impressive first half.

Bryant, 22, the second overall pick in the 2013 amateur draft, is batting .355 with 22 home runs and 58 RBIs in 68 games for Double-A Tennessee and went 1 for 5 in the Southern League All-Star game Tuesday night.

In a tweet, Bryant said he would join Iowa on Thursday.

Bryant finished the first half with a 10-game hitting streak in which he hit .395 with five doubles, three home runs and seven RBIs.

Bryant joins shortstop Javier Baez, the Cubs’ top prospect, at Iowa.

Also joining Bryant is catcher Welington Castillo, who will start a minor league rehabilitation assignment. Castillo has been sidelined since June 2 because of left ribcage inflammation.
