Navigate Around Kennedy Construction:
Avoid the IB Kennedy due to the closure from Chicago to Grand. If you’re just passing through Chicago, use I-294 as an alternate to avoid the area. If you need to get to/from downtown, consider side roads such as Elston or Milwaukee. I-290 and Lakeshore Drive can also help get you downtown.

Public Transportation:
If you’re heading into downtown from the north or northwest, public transportation is strongly recommended. Metra and CTA will both have added service throughout the weekend. There are 4 Metra lines available from the North and Northwest: Union Pacific North, Milwaukee District North, Union Pacific Northwest and Milwaukee District West. The North Central Service Line between Antioch and Downtown does not run on the weekends.
The CTA Blue Line runs along the Kennedy Expressway and is another great alternate. There are three “Park and Ride” stations that you can drive to and then take the blue line into the city. Those are located at the following stations: Rosemont, Cumberland and Harlem.
