Birds of prey are on the attack in southwest suburban Summit.

The sign says it all: warning, aggressive hawk in the area.

Neighbors say a couple of hawks protecting their nest have been dive-bombing people.

This isn’t exactly a wildlife preserve. It’s 56th St. not far from Midway Airport.

The birds are swooping down on unsuspecting passers-by.

The hawks are federally protected – so there’s nothing residents can do but take cover.
