Semi driver rescues other driver after head-on crash in Blue Island

A semi truck driver who was hit head on by another car rescued the car’s driver.

The crash happened at the intersection of  129th and Ashland around 1 a.m Friday morning.

The truck driver, Ralph Peterson was going south on Ashland when he saw a car speeding over the bridge and veer into traffic.

“I rushed to the vehicle to see if he was okay and he was stuck and I tried to pull the steering wheel and pulled him because there was diesel fuel leaking all over,” said  Peterson.

The driver of the car suffered non life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital according to a Blue Island fire department official.

Blue Island police have not released any details about the crash and continue to investigate.
