The 12th Annual Avon Walk for breast cancer kicks off today at Soldier Field.

Thousands of participants have a choice of walking a 26.2 mile marathon or a marathon and a half, which is 39.3 miles.

Walkers will pass by many Chicago landmarks, including Buckingham Fountain, the Shedd Aquarium, and Lincoln Park.

The walk raises money for breast cancer research and outreach programs.

Summertime means it’s time for fireworks at Navy Pier.

The night time show begins tonight at 10:15 pm from the Navy Pier dock and takes place every Saturday and Wednesday night through Labor Day.

The fireworks are choreographed to music and free to the public.
