Mother questioned after toddler found alone on sidewalk

Police are questioning the mother of a toddler, who  was found on a sidewalk in Englewood.

Police say the child was left on the curb at 6508 S. Stewart at about 10 a.m. by a black male driving a a beige vehicle.

A man, who says he heard someone yelling, looked out his window and saw someone in the car leave him there.

According to St. Bernard Hospital, where the child was taken once he was found, the boy is in good condition. The mother was being interviewed at the hospital by DCFS and Chicago Police detectives.

Chicago police were asking for the public’s help in identifying a male toddler after he was reported found and described between 20 to 24 months old about 36 inches tall with brown eyes and hair. He has a medium complexion with a birthmark near his right eye.

He was wearing a blue jacket with red trim, beige pants, black and white socks and Nike Jordan shoes.

The mother came forward after relatives saw the story on Facebook.

DCFS has released him to a family friend.
