After speaking with two doctors from Hines VA and a whistleblower, Senator Mark Kirk says he is convinced allegations of unnecessary treatment delays for vets, secret waitlists and employee intimidation are true.

“It would take a lot of reforming to fix Hines VA from what I heard.” Kirk says he was also told of other negligence, including heart test results that were discarded.

The issue of vet mistreatment at VA hospitals came to light after the deaths of veterans in Phoenix.

Veteran’s Affairs secretary Eric Shinseki resigned this morning after meeting with president Obama about the scandal.

Whistleblower Germaine Clarno who works at Hines says attempts by employees to fix the problem were met with intimidation.

Vets leaving Hines Friday said they don’t think Shinseki is to blame, but they believe new leadership is needed.
