On a day America remember soldiers who have died,  one local veteran continues to do all he can to help colleagues still living but who are struggling.

Vietnam veteran Bob Adams is co-founder of the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton.

The Shelter provides temporary housing and support services for vets.

Adams knows personally about the difficulties of re-adjusting to civilian life after serving our country.

He says he was homeless and abused drugs and alcohol before finding his calling.

Adams says more than eight out of ten veterans who have completed the transitional housing program have become self-sufficient.
