Forecast: Thunderstorms, showers move through Chicago area

Morning rain will give way to afternoon sunshine.

Showers and occasional thunderstorms are likely as we start our Friday as a cold front approaches the region.

Behind the front drier air will filter into the region and lead to partly cloudy skies this afternoon with highs in the mid 70s.

We will be comfortably cool overnight with mostly clear skies and lows in the low 50s. Saturday will be partly cloudy and cooler with highs in the low 70s.

Temperatures along the Lake will hold in the mid 60s.

A chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms returns for Mother’s Day as temperatures top out in the upper 70s
