The Chicago Transit Authority’s old Chicago Cards are on their way out.

This morning, the CTA stopped selling the magnetic stripe cards, as part of the transit system’s transition to the Ventra fare card; also, you won’t be able to reload existing Chicago cards.

Starting in July, CTA buses and trains will stop accepting them, and you’ll need to pay by Ventra.
