Body of newborn found, autopsy scheduled

An autopsy is scheduled Sunday on the body of a newborn found in a plastic bag on the northwest side.

Someone who was passing by two apartment buildings in the 2700 block of North Hamlin Ave. made the discovery Saturday morning.

Police say the umbilical cord was still attached to the baby boy, as well as the placenta.

They have launched a death investigation, and are looking for the mother.
