Good Friday celebrated in Chicago

As part of Good Friday celebrations across the Chicago area, Christians gathered to re-enact the Way of the Cross marking the death of Jesus.

Parishes in the Pilsen and Little Village neighborhoods of Chicago participate in the Living Way of the Cross on Good Friday.

Since 1977, parishioners from the predominantly Mexican Catholic churches around Pilsen have organized the Living Way of the Cross every year to commemorate the suffering, crucifixion and death of Christ.

Francis Cardinal George is presiding over mass on Good Friday on the city’s north side. Parishioners came to Holy Name Cathedral to celebrate mass with the Cardinal.
