Brookfield Zoo holds program for Autism Awareness Day

Governor Pat Quinn was at the Brookfield Zoo to proclaim Saturday as “Autism Awareness Day.”

It’s the second year that Brookfield Zoo hosted Autism Awareness day with a program of special events.

It was a family-focused day, and animals were included to help autistic children connect with wildlife and nature.

Recent statistics show that one in 68 children is diagnosed with autism.

Brookfield zoo says that 1,000 autistic children  and their families attended the  activities.
