A brazen burglary in the Gold Coast where thieves busted the window at the Saint Laurent Paris store and took off with $100,000 worth of merchandise.

Police responded to a burglary alarm just before 3 a.m. Friday at the store near Rush and Walton.  Officers say several men used a blunt object, possibly a baseball bat, to smash the store’s front window.  Investigators say the men ran inside, grabbed what they could, and ran out a few minutes later to a dark-colored SUV.

People who work near the store say the shelves inside were stripped bare and display cases were emptied.  Stolen items include designer bags, shoes, and clothing.

The store reopened Friday afternoon.  It was restocked and the window was boarded up.

The Saint Laurent Paris store opened at the location in December and residents nearby tell WGN this isn’t the first time the store was a target.

Investigators are looking at surveillance video for clues.
