Northwest Indiana police are investigating a student “hit-list,” found last week at a local elementary school.

According to Griffith Public Schools, the students believed to be responsible for creating the list have been removed from Wadsworth Elementary school pending the outcome of an investigation.

In a letter sent home to parents, Griffith Public Schools say the hit list was found last Friday by school officials. Those officials immediately notified the school principal as well as the school counselor. The Griffith Police Department and the Indiana Department of Child Services have since become involved in the investigation.

Parents say they were shocked to find out about the threat,  especially considering the boys allegedly behind it all are no more than 10 or 11-years-old.

Although neither could comment on the ongoing investigation, Griffith Public Schools and Griffith Police say they are working together to ensure the safety of students at Wadsworth Elementary.
