100 people in Illinois have contracted salmonella linked to illegally manufactured Mexican-style cheeses.

Health officials in Cook, DuPage and Will counties, along with 10 other counties throughout the state, are reporting similar cases.

The contaminated cheese has been surfacing since July of 2012.

It’s not labeled and is often wrapped in aluminum foil.

Many who have gotten sick ate the cheese at work sites, train stations and from street vendors.
