Bail is denied for a father accused of killing his 2-year-old daughter in south suburban Lansing.

According to prosecutors, 21-year-old Jeremiah Thompson hit his daughter numerous times after she soiled herself.

Jakarriah Patterson was found dead inside the home at about 2:30 p.m. last Wednesday.

The agency is considering Jakarriah Patterson’s death a homicide after an autopsy was conducted Thursday morning. The autopsy confirmed that Patterson died as the result of child abuse. The medical examiner’s office said she was beaten to death.

Family members became very emotional in court, and one woman was escorted from the courtroom by deputies because of her outbursts.

Thompson had been on parole since November after serving a three-year sentence for robbery.
