The Chicago Public Schools system is expanding a free condom program to 24 high schools.

Condoms have previously been available at two schools Collins and Foreman.

A CPS spokesman says principals will decide whether they want to make condoms available.

A staff member trained in sexual health education would hand them out.

According to a recent city report, Chicago’s teen birth rate has gone down 33 percent, but it’s still nearly two times higher than the national average.
