Chicago police are searching for two suspects believed to be responsible for shooting a retired officer in his home during a break in.

Retired police sergeant Elmer Brown is in serious condition at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.

The 73-year-old father was shot in the neck during a home invasion late last night.

Brown, who’s blind and needs 24 hour help, was home with his wife when the two robbers came in through an unlocked door in the home at 115th and G in the city’s East Side neighborhood.  They asked Brown to take them to a safe, but shot him when it couldn’t be opened.  The men took off.

Brown’s wife wasn’t injured.
