A simple documentary on Abraham Lincoln ignited Dave Kloke’s passion to rebuild a piece of history.

The civil war was ending as Lincoln’s life was cut short.  His funeral procession through seven states and attended by millions.  It is that journey Dave is now recreating.

An exact replica of the Lincoln funeral train is now under construction in northwest suburban Elgin, each piece painstakingly crafted as it was once before.

Dozens of volunteers have spent thousands of man-hours thus far, and much more still needs to be done.

The funeral car and its locomotive, also crafted by Dave 10 years ago, are set to hit the roads and rails commemorating the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s death next year.
