Dangerous wind chills 20 to 30-degrees below zero are expected to hit the Chicago area later tonight into Wednesday morning as another surge of Arctic high pressure blasts into the Midwest. Clear skies and the still-thick snow cover will with the frigid influx of air from the Arctic allow readings here Wednesday morning to drop to record low values – Chicago’s record low of -1 on this date was set back in 1963. The sub-zero readings combined with 10 to 20 mile-per-hour winds will result in the forecast -20 to -30-degree wind chills.
