Cops shoot 2 dogs, drugs and guns seized on South Side

Chicago police shot two dogs, killing one of them, while trying to serve a search warrant on the city’s South Side.

It happened at 10:30 p.m. Monday at a home in the 9200 block of south Merrill Avenue in the Pill Hill neighborhood.

The two dogs were in a bedroom with the suspect, and the dogs reportedly charged at officers. Police described the dogs as pitbulls.

The suspect was taken into custody. Police seized cocaine and ecstasy, along with guns during the raid.

The injured dog is being treated by a veterinarian.
