An off-duty Chicago police officer shot a man on the Northwest Side.

Police say two men caused a disturbance inside a restaurant in the 4300 block of West Fullerton Avenue, around 9 p.m. Saturday night.

The off-duty officer, who was there at the time, identified himself and escorted them outside.

Authorities say one of the men got a gun from a car and pointed it at the officer, who pulled out his own gun and fired.

One of the men was hit in the leg.

The men took off in a car, but were arrested nearby.

Following standard procedure after shootings involving CPD officers, the Independent Police Review Authority is conducting an investigation.
