That tilted and leaking water tower at 409 west Huron is no longer a problem.

Construction crews lowered it to the ground Saturday afternoon.

The tower tilted with a bang and poured some 18,000 gallons of water onto the top of the building where it has sat for decades.

That forced the evacuation of about 180 people from two buildings.

The basement of the building was flooded.

City officials say the building failed its annual inspection last December 31st, and the weakened structure of the water tower was cited at that time.
