The Chicago area will remain under a flood warning until Saturday at noon.

Melting snow, river ice and rain have combined to raise water levels and threaten homes near river banks.

The Des Plaines River in Riverside is already more than two feet above flood stage.

Warnings also single out the East Branch of the DuPage River in Bolingbrook, and the Kankakee River is Momence, as well as Shelby.

People in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood are keeping a close watch on the Chicago River. Big sections of the neighborhood were severely flooded last spring.

Street flooding could become a problem; so authorities are reminding drivers to turn back and find alternate routes if they encounter flooded roadways.
