A woman is charged with driving under the influence of heroin after police say she passed out behind the wheel of a running car.

21-year old Ivana Tasevska was arrested near a train crossing in Riverside on Tuesday.

Police believe she and a friend passed out while waiting for a train to pass.

Tasevska later told police she drove to Chicago for drugs and snorted heroin as they drove back to her motel room in suburban Lyons.

Riverside Police Chief Thomas Weitzel said, “Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon occurrence in the suburbs.  Many of our suburban residents are making their way down the Eisenhower Expressway into Chicago

to purchase narcotics get back on the Expressway and return to their homes, jobs and, in this case, motels in suburban Cook County.”

Tasevska and her friend were taken to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn for treatment related to a heroin overdose.

She was also placed under arrest for driving while under the influence, police said.
