Person rescued from fire in Lake Station, Indiana

Police officers in Lake Station, Indiana, rescued a person from a burning building early this morning.

Deputy Fire Chief Chuck Fazekas told a camera crew at the scene the victim was found near the back door.

The fire was reported after 1 am at 2710 Central Avenue in Lake Station, which is just east of Gary.

The unidentified victim was taken to the hospital in Hobart, Indiana, in stable condition.

Firefighters doused the flames quickly.

The cause is unknown and is under investigation.
