Warm weather to pose new home dangers

Temperatures in the low-to-high 40s will grace the Chicago area next week, and this will pose all kinds of problems for homeowners.

All of the snow that’s coating roofs, and ice that’s clogging gutters, will melt quickly during the warm weather. This makes roofs and basements vulnerable to water.

Home and roof repair guys recommend people get as much snow and ice off their roofs, as long as they can do so safely.

U.S. Waterproofing suggests people make sure water can flow through their downspouts and away from their homes or buildings.

Frozen sump pump lines are also at risk. Experts recommend people use hair dryers to warm up pipes that are exposed.
