The Metra board held a special meeting today to choose a new chairman.

Former Chicago Alderman Martin Oberman was elected as Metra’s new chairman by a unanimous vote.

The other candidates were former CTA executive John Plante, and Village President of Lemont Brian Reaves.

Brad O’Halloran, Metra’s previous chairman, resigned in August after an outcry over the exit of Alex Clifford as CEO of the nation’s second-busiest commuter rail agency.
