Monday night, an employee of the state treasurer’s office resigns after accusing republican candidate for governor Dan Rutherford of forcing him to do political work on state time.

The accuser has not filed a claim officially yet, but could by the end of this week.

The subject of this claim was addressed in Monday’s Chicago Tribune editorial board meeting.

And today on WLS radio, a lawyer for the man making the claims says there may be more than a first amendment rights violation in the end.

Treasurer Rutherford denied the accusations were true.

And he is convinced republican opponent Bruce Rauner is behind the claim going public which Rauner denies.
