Firefighters battled a fire Friday night on the city’s southeast side.

A rail car carrying automobiles caught fire just after 7:00 near 136th and Brainard in the Hegewisch neighborhood.

Crews had problems battling the fire, because the car was alongside electrified tracks.  Those tracks had to be shut down, so firefighters could get closer.

No injuries were reported.

My girlfriend is the one that called 911 to tell about the rail car at 7:11pm tonight. Although the 911 dispatcher was incredibly rude to say the very least..she was able to give the exact location despote the rude remarks he had. Thank goodness she smelled the burning and saw the flames or who knows would could have happened. Your awesome baby
